by:

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, there were 4,679 fatal workplace incidents in 2014 which is a 2% increase over 2013 data.  The next Census of Fatal Occupational Injuries (CFOI) report is scheduled to be released in the late Spring of 2016.

Other findings in the 2014 report include:
- 9% higher fatal work injury risk in private goods-producing industries when compared to services-producing industries

- For workers aged 55 and older, fatal work injuries increased over 9% in 2014. The highest count on record.
- Self-employed workers had a 10% fatal work injury increase in 2014.

These are just a few of the statistics available in the report.
